Greetings From Rome!
The 2026 GCSP Annual Meeting will be held at Sapienza University of Rome. Located in the heart of Rome, Italy, near the famous Colosseum, Sapienza University has been the pulse of GCSP in Europe and has played a key role in expanding the mission of GCSP to new continents and universities.

Each year, Grand Challenges Scholars Programs from universities across the globe come together to exchange knowledge, practices, stories, and successes. Through these exchanges, we learn about one another and build tight relationships that facilitate our ultimate goal: to keep our planet and its global society alive by solving for our most dire challenges. As our world becomes increasingly smaller through exponential advancement in technology and our ability to connect across boundaries, there is no shortage of complex problems to address. But engineering is a discipline uniquely equipped for problem solving. This year's conference will focus on energizing communities to to engage in problem solving with engineering at the core cross-community and cross-discipline interactions. We invite deans, directors, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to participate in this collaborative and transformative experience.
This year’s theme: "Community, Technology and Grand Challenges: Together for Global Impact"

Getting to Rome

Rome has two main airports:
-
FCO (Fiumicino): The largest airport, well-connected internationally. Take the Leonardo Express train to Roma Termini or a bus; both options are quick and affordable.
-
CIA (Ciampino): Smaller and less crowded; buses connect directly to Roma Termini.
Roma Termini is very close to the Engineering Faculty and nearby hotels - walking is possible, but a short taxi may be easier with luggage. Taxis from either airport cost around $100 and can be shared.
